Sustainable Living: Organic Garden
Our life may be seen as a garden, a Garden which we are able to tend and develop into a healthy expression of our truest potential. The Garden Program at Vill Kali Ma provides participants the opportunity to reconnect with nature through the magic of the garden. As practical lessons are learned for how we may grow our literal gardens, we explore how the metaphors of the garden and its processes relate to the way we may create health and wellness in our own lives.
The garden program takes place once a week in the burgeoning permaculture garden on site at Villa Kali Ma. Participants learn insights into the following aspects of the garden:
- Permaculture
- Compost and Soil
- Ethnobotanical Plants for Food and Medicine
- Plant Propagation and Cultivation
-
Harvest and Use: Garden Program Participants are encouraged to feel empowered to carry some of what they learn back home with them and to implement their new understandings of the garden in a meaningful way into their own lives.Resource Materials:Book: Gaia’s Garden, a Guide to Home-Scale Permaculture by Toby Hemenway.Movie: DirtMovie: Seed
